The company’s lawyers deny the claim that the social network paid the fine to the wrong account.

Social network X was blocked in Brazil at the end of August this year and fines were paid to continue its operation, but the Supreme Court says the company “paid to the wrong bank.” It was reported by Reuters.

Brazil’s Supreme Court said lawyers representing social media platform X failed to pay a fine to the bank involved. This in turn has delayed a decision on whether to allow the tech company to continue services in Brazil.

Earlier on Friday, Company X, owned by US billionaire Elon Musk, filed a new request to resume its services in Brazil, saying it has paid all fines.

In response to the request, Supreme Court Judge Alexandre (sometimes spelled Alexander) de Moraes asked that the payment be transferred to the correct bank. He also accepted that after the fines are resolved, the Attorney General of Brazil will express his opinion on the recent requests from Legal Group X, which aims to reopen the platform in the country.

Following Moraes’ decision, X’s lawyers again asked the court to allow it to continue operating in Brazil. They contested that the company paid the fines into the wrong account and said they did not need to consult with the attorney general before lifting the ban. According to their statement, the company paid a $5.24 million fine.

Let’s remember how the billionaire Elon Musk acquired the social network X two years ago, its value fell by more than 75%.
