International arms company BAE Systems has announced its intention to first localize repairs and then manufacture M777 artillery mounts in Ukraine. It was reported by military on Wednesday, October 2.
The general director of the division of BAE-Systems in Ukraine, Christian Siar, noted that we are talking, in particular, about cooperation with a Ukrainian company that will repair weapons.
“There are some great Ukrainian companies that have impressed BAE Systems. And as I said, we are partnering with one of them to start maintenance. That’s our strategy. We would like to move M777 maintenance to Ukraine and then hopefully build them here as well, ” he explained.
But he emphasized that such cooperation is not only the repair and maintenance of weapons, but also the provision of spare parts and training of personnel. In addition, Christian Siar noted that they are talking about long-term cooperation, which will affect the development of the Ukrainian industry as a whole.
