The agreement must be agreed by the American government, both countries are working on it, but it could take up to nine months.
The American company AeroVironment at DFNC2: International Forum of Defense Industries in Kyiv signed an agreement with the Ukrainian company to localize the Switchblade 600. Ukrainian specialized media Militarny reported this.
At the same time, the Ukrainian signatory company is not named for security reasons.
The Senior Vice President and General Manager of the AeroVironment loitering strike systems division, Bret Hush, in a comment to the publication said that cooperation with the Ukrainian company is gradual.
“Basically, subsystem components will be sent… So, it will start with a very simple integration. And then over time we will localize more and more systems and improve the complex so that it becomes better than it is today,” the official said .
Now the US government must agree to the agreement, both countries are working on it, which may take about nine months. Future production volume was not specified, but Hash mentioned that it should be several thousand Switchblade 600 per year.
The Ukrainian military is not using Switchblade 600 loitering munitions as planned. From the very beginning, these weapons were given to American special forces for conducting irregular warfare and hitting moving targets, a representative of the company explained, adding that they are used by the Ukrainian military these weapons to destroy targets worth $20-25 million, such as Pantsir or S-300 air defense systems.
“There are some amazing open source videos. What’s really important in my opinion is that even though it’s an anti-tank missile, the same one used on the Javelin, it’s not being used in Ukraine against tanks. The Russians are tanks can be replaced regularly. But they cannot replace expensive air defense systems because there is a limited number of technicians working on electronics,” Hash emphasized.
We remind you that Ukraine produces artillery systems according to NATO standards and has doubled the production of ammunition.
As we already wrote, Presidential Adviser on Strategic Issues Alexander Kamyshin said last year that Ukraine agreed with two American companies to jointly produce 155 mm shells on its own territory.
