Imports of goods in Ukraine exceeded exports by more than $20 billion, the Ministry of Economy reports. Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka announced the relevant data on Facebook on Tuesday, October 1st.
He noted that in physical terms, export volumes in the first three quarters of 2024 reached 99.3 million tons, which is 36.2% more than the same period in 2023. However, the value of exports was up just 6% to $28.9 billion.
In the third quarter of 2024, Ukraine exported 28.2 million tons of goods worth $9.3 billion, which is respectively 36% more in volume and 20.1% in value compared to the third quarter of 2023.
Kachka reported an increase in exports of metallurgical products, cement, corn, and wheat.
While the most interesting food product is juices (2009) – 82 thousand tons and $160 million An increase of 65% in volume and 95.5% in value. There was also growth in the confectionery industry – cookies $190 million (+29%), chocolate $169 million (+38%), caramels $151 million (+14%)
The total import of goods for the 9 months of 2024 reached $49.2 billion. The largest expenditures were for oil and petroleum products ($5.1 billion), cars ($3.27 billion), medicines ($1.4 billion), phones/smartphones/tablets ($904 million) and drones ($904 million), and electricity ( $527 million).
