Over the past month, eggs and vegetables have increased the most in price (by 7.1% and 5.2%). At the same time, fruit prices fell by 7.4%.
In August, consumer prices in Ukraine increased by 0.6% after falling to zero in July. The State Statistics Service announced this on Tuesday, September 10.
At the same time, in August 2023, consumer prices fell by 1.4%, so in annual terms, inflation at the end of August 2024 rose to 7.5% – the highest level for the year. In July this number was 5.4%, and in June – 4.8%.
According to the State Statistics Service, in August in the consumer market prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 0.9%.
Prices for eggs and vegetables increased the most (by 7.1% and 5.2%). Prices for bread, sugar, pasta, processed grain products, sunflower oil, rice, meat and meat products, milk and dairy products, butter, soft drinks, fish and fish products are increased by 2.4-0.7%. At the same time, the price of fruit decreased by 7.4%.
At the same time, prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 0.8%, which was related to the increase in the price of tobacco products by 1.4%.
At the same time, clothes and shoes fell in price by 2.9%, including shoes – by 3.4%, clothes – by 2.4%.
Transportation prices increased by 0.6%, mainly due to an increase in prices for cars by 1.2%, road passenger transport fares by 0.6%, and oils and lubricating oils by 0.5 %.
We remind you that in July the NBU worsened its inflation forecast in 2024 to 8.5%. The regulator expects overall inflation in the country to accelerate over the next three quarters but remain moderate.
As you know, by the end of 2023, inflation in Ukraine will reach 5.1%. This is the lowest level since 2020, when consumer price growth was 5%.
