Ukraine has drastically reduced electricity imports

At the end of August, Ukraine reduced electricity imports by 43% compared to the previous month – to about 474 thousand MWh. This was confirmed by the ExPro Electricity monitoring data released on Monday, September 2.

Electricity imports from Poland were the lowest, by 57.5% – up to 48.2 thousand MWh. The largest share in the import structure is traditionally occupied by Hungary – 43%.

“Compared to August 2023, this year’s electricity imports have quadrupled In total, more than 2.1 million MWh of electricity were imported in June-August 2024, which is almost three times higher than the total import volume for throughout 2023. the message said.

At the same time, it is stated that Ukraine has not exported electricity since May 12 of this year.

Let us remind you that in June Ukraine imported a record 858.3 thousand MWh of electricity. This is more than all of 2023. It is also the largest monthly import in 10 years.

In July, Ukraine reduced electricity imports by only 2% compared to June. Before this, import volumes were growing for three months.
