The Chinese manufacturer intends to return to the Russian market through partners in the CIS countries, Vedomosti wrote.
The Chinese company Honor has suspended the supply of the devices to Russia. At the same time, the electronics manufacturer did not make an official statement about its exit from the Russian market, reports Vedomosti, citing sources.
Interlocutors of the publication noted that the supply of Honor devices to Russia stopped in March.
“Currently, the Chinese company is looking for partners in Armenia, Georgia and has reached an agreement with Uzbekistan to import smartphones into Russia through parallel imports (without the consent of the holders of copyright – ed.), “said one of the sources.
He also claims that the expansion of the network of distributors in the CIS countries could indicate that Honor will resume deliveries to Russia.
As pointed out by analyst Mikhail Burmistrov, cooperation with distributors in the CIS will allow the company to reduce the risks of penalties.
“Although consumer electronics are not subject to restrictions, Chinese companies have played it safe and limited supplies in hopes of legalizing parallel imports,” he stressed.
It was previously reported that parallel imports were made legal in the Russian Federation. On June 21, the State Duma allowed the importation of goods into Russia without the consent of the rights holders until the end of 2022, and on June 28 the law was signed by President Vladimir Putin.
It will be recalled that after the military invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, many foreign brands suspended the supply of their products in the country, or eliminated their business.
