Five Western insurers provided their services despite restrictions imposed by the G7 and their allies.
A group of Western insurers, despite sanctions, service tankers carrying Russian crude oil. This was reported by Reuters news agency.
We are talking about five insurers. Among them are the American Club, West of England and the Norwegian Gard. They served 10 tankers that left Russia for Asia this year.
The American Club and West of England insured two vessels, the Gioiosa and Orion I, which undertook similar voyages earlier this year. According to the data provided, both vessels were carrying crude oil from the Russian state company Rosneft.
Restrictions imposed by the G7 and their allies allow Western insurers and ships to participate in the Russian oil trade if oil sells for less than $60 a barrel.
American Club said it did not have access to oil price data when providing services for the Gioiosa vessel.
Let’s recall that revenues from the sale of oil and gas in the Russian Federation increased by about 41% year-on-year in the first half of the year – to $65.12 billion due to the increase in oil prices and the weakening of the ruble.
It was previously reported that in May, Russia overtook the United States for the first time in nearly two years to become Europe’s largest gas supplier.
