The top five selling smartphones in China include Vivo, Oppo, Honor, Huawei and Xiaomi.
The American manufacturer Apple fell out of the top five smartphone sales leaders in China for the first time in four years, and the iPhone gave way to models from Chinese phone manufacturers, especially Huawei. This was reported by the Financial Times on Friday, July 26.
In the second quarter of 2024, iPhone share in China will drop from 16% to 14%. In total, Apple shipped 9.7 million smartphones and took sixth place in this indicator. In the second quarter of 2023, the company will be in third place.
The top five smartphone manufacturers in China include Vivo (13.1 million), Oppo (11.3 million), Honor (10.7 million), Huawei (10.6 million) and Xiaomi (10 million).
At the same time, smartphone shipments in China grew by 8.9% year-on-year to 71.6 million units. Growth was recorded for the third quarter in a row.
“This year the collapse of Apple (in the first half of 2024, – ed..) is more than simple seasonality, but a direct result of increased competition from Huawei, the only major player in the premium segment other than Apple,” said Nabila Popal, research director at IDC.
It was previously reported that Apple plans to automate the assembly of the iPhone and fire 50% of the workforce.
