It is reported that 90% of foreign trade passes through the Danube ports and the ports of Greater Odessa.
According to the head of the USPA Yuriy Lytvyn, the Danube ports now export 1.5 – 1.3 million tons of cargo. The reason is the unblocking of the ports of Odessa and the seasonal decrease in export volumes. Freight turnover through the Ukrainian corridor in June reached 5.6 million tons, of which 3.6 million tons were products of Ukrainian farmers. In just six months of 2024, Ukrainian ports handled 53 million tons of cargo (31.2 million tons in June 2023), 6,046 ships were handled.
It was previously reported that by the end of May 2024, 8 million 265 thousand tons of cargo were processed by sea ports of Ukraine, which is almost twice the same number as in 2023.
As is known, in Ukraine, car traffic with grain cargo was re-directed from the western borders in the direction of the sea ports of Greater Odessa. At the same time, the volume of grain cargo transfers across borders with all neighboring countries without exception – Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Romania – has decreased.
