Eliminating distribution to classes of electrical energy consumers would require a significant increase in industry costs and would make production unprofitable, according to the parliamentary committee.

At the meeting, the Committee on Economic Development considered the issue of unifying the tariff for electricity distribution, proposed by the National Commission that carries out state regulation in the field of energy and utilities (NCREKU). TSN reported it.

People’s representatives came to the conclusion that such a decision could have serious negative consequences for the industry and the Ukrainian economy as a whole, in particular leading to job losses and a decrease in the amount of production. Therefore, the committee invited the head of NEURC Valery Tarasyuk and the Minister of Energy German Galushchenko to its meeting to find out their position on this issue.

As you know, today in Ukraine, electricity consumers are divided into two classes: class 1 – large consumers (industry) using electrical energy with a voltage of 27.5 kV, and class 2 – all other consumers whose network voltage is reduced.

The committee believes that the elimination of distribution in classes, proposed by NEURC, will essentially lead to the fact that the industry will pay twice – for itself and general infrastructure. This will not only increase their operating costs, but will also have a negative impact on the competitiveness of domestic industrial products in the international market.

“The elimination of the distribution of electricity consumer classes will require a significant increase in industrial costs and will make production unprofitable. This will lead to a decrease in the amount of production, loss of jobs, decrease in export potential, decrease in budget income and the impossibility of additional aid to the Defense Forces of Ukraine Additional financial burden on the industry carries the risk of reducing investment, will negatively affect GDP and reduce budget revenues, because industrial enterprises are the main taxpayers. war reconstruction of Ukraine and may lead to the loss of the entire economic sector, “deputies said.

The committee also noted that in all EU countries there are differences in tariffs for electricity distribution services. Moreover, the number of such classes usually exceeds three, while in Ukraine there are only two. Therefore, in the context of European integration processes, Ukraine should improve the system of classification of consumers, and not unify the tariff policy.

Earlier, Ukrmetallurgprom called on NEURKU to prevent unification of tariffs for electricity distribution services. This was stated in a letter to the head of the regulator Valery Tarasyuk.

Also, the metallurgical giant ArcelorMittal Krivoy Rog appealed to the government with a request to prevent the unification of the tariff for electricity distribution. The company believes that this will be a devastating blow to the big industry and will negatively affect the state’s economy.
