This would be a devastating blow to the industry and cause significant damage to the Ukrainian economy, industrialists believe.
Iron and Steel Works ArcelorMittal Krivoy Rog (AMKR) called on the government to prevent unification of electricity distribution tariff. The newspaper reported it Metallurgistthe company’s official publication, on Monday, July 15.
As mentioned in the plant, large industry, in particular mining and metal enterprises, was the key to the functioning of the Ukrainian economy during the war with Russia. Only under stable working conditions can they continue to support the economy and pay billions in taxes, the funds of which are used to provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“However, decisions have recently been made and are planned to be made that may lead to a halt in the production of industrial enterprises. Currently, it is known that a decision is being prepared that will cause greater damage to such a strategic energy-intensive business as ArcelorMittal Krivoy Rog. The business received information that the National Commission for State Regulation in the Spheres of Energy and Utilities (NCREKU) has already formulated a decision to introduce a unified tariff for the distribution of electricity for large industries, small and micro enterprises ,” AMKR indicated.
The company recalled that the tariff for electricity distribution is now divided into voltage classes – 1st and 2nd, which corresponds to the existing practice of setting the tariff for electricity distribution services in the EU.
“The tariff is divided and it is logical, because less infrastructure is used to provide electricity to large enterprises, and the loss of electricity in the electrical networks for its distribution is lower than the 2nd class, while the tariff for the 2nd class allows you to cover the costs of electricity delivery to small and small businesses,” the newspaper said.
According to the information received, NEURC wants to establish a single tariff for the same group of consumers, that is, the one-time solution proposes to increase the tariff for large industry by five times.
“This will be a devastating blow to the big industry, which makes up the state budget, and will have a very negative impact on the country’s struggling economy,” the company believes.
before Ukrmetallurgprom called on the NEURC to prevent the unification of tariffs for electricity distribution services. This was stated in a letter to the head of the regulator Valery Tarasyuk.
We remind you that from June 1, 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers significantly increased electricity bills for the population – up to 4.32 UAH/kWh. At the same time, Ukraine increased the maximum price of electricity for businesses.
