Ukraine has again been promised multibillion-dollar assistance, but so far the receipts are less than necessary.
The G7 countries aim to allocate $ 29.5 billion to Ukraine by 2022, according to a statement adopted at the G7 summit on Monday, June 27th.
“Today, we are ready to pledge or pledge and provide budget support of up to $ 29.5 billion by 2022 to help Ukraine close the funding gap and continue to provide essential services to Ukrainian citizens,” the statement said.
It was noted that this support is in line with the economic assistance provided from 2014 to 2021, which exceeded $ 60 billion.
At the same time, the G7 supported the work of international financial institutions for further financing of Ukraine.
“Furthermore, we are committed to helping Ukraine maximize its export potential. We instruct G7 trade ministers to discuss specific measures to support Ukraine’s efforts to rebuild. through trade, including, for example, suspension of tariffs on Ukrainian exports, “the document said.
The G7 also aims to continue coordinating actions on tariff measures for imports from Russia. “And we will explore possible ways, in accordance with our law, to use the proceeds to provide assistance to Ukraine, where appropriate,” the statement said.
It should be noted that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky spoke via video link at the G7 summit. He demanded that Ukraine be given air defense systems, impose additional sanctions on Russia and security guarantees.
