Ukraine is discussing with European electricity transmission system operators an increase in capacity for electricity imports to 2.2 GW.
The situation in the power grid remains difficult as the enemy continues to attack the infrastructure. To eliminate the shortage, Ukraine is talking with partners, Deputy Energy Minister Nikolai Kolesnik said at the United News marathon on Monday, July 1.
According to him, it is now technically possible to import 1.7 GW.
“Negotiations are currently underway to increase this figure to 2.2 GW of installed capacity,” Kolesnik said.
He added that the energy sector is now committed to carrying out a repair campaign to restore generating capacity to the system, which can be restored and repaired to increase its own generation.
Kolesnik called for especially careful consumption of electricity, noting that it would help balance the energy system and reduce hourly schedules for limiting the supply of electrical energy.
The previous day, Ukrenergo announced that they would implement the strictest blackout schedule since the beginning of the summer. It’s because of the heat.
It was previously reported that July will be the most difficult period for the Ukrainian energy system. It is at this time that nuclear power plants undergo scheduled maintenance.
