The National Bank strengthened the hryvnia against the dollar for the third day in a row. The rate of decline of the American currency has accelerated. This was confirmed by data on the regulator’s website on Tuesday, June 18.
The official exchange rate for tomorrow is set at 40.5493 UAH per dollar (-0.0992 UAH). In turn, the euro is worth 43.4486 UAH (-0.0880 UAH).
Today in the interbank market the dollar exchange rate decreased by 6 kopecks – to 40.56-40.59 UAH/dollar (buying and selling) compared to the previous day’s close.
At the same time, in the cash market, the American currency fell by 10 kopecks – to UAH 41.00.
Earlier, the National Bank explained the reasons for the sharp increase in the dollar exchange rate in May. According to the regulator, demand for foreign currency jumped 41% last month.
And last week it became known that the NBU lowered the discount rate for the third time in a row. Such a step will contribute to a further revival of lending, which is important for economic recovery, assured the regulator.
