The funds will be received by the state company Energocom.
“The debt will finance up to a fifth of Moldova’s planned gas imports for 2022, which could stop as a result of the war with Ukraine. Currently, all these imports are from Russian Gazprom under a contract that will expire in 2026, ”the statement said.
Earlier in June, NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine also received a EUR 300 million loan from the EBRD. These funds should pay for the loss of natural gas production after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
