The value of transactions using payment cards in the first quarter of 2024 reached UAH 1 trillion 489.7 billion.
In the first quarter of this year, the average bill when paying with cards in stores in Ukraine was 327 hryvnia, and when paying for goods and services on the Internet – 541 hryvnia. This was reported by the press service of the National Bank on Tuesday, June 11.
The value of transactions (non-cash and cash received) using payment cards in Ukraine and abroad in the first quarter of 2024 reached UAH 1 trillion 489.7 billion. Of these, non-cash payments amounted to UAH 960.9 billion. The share of non-cash transactions is at 64.5%.
In the first quarter of 2024, the majority of transactions using cards were made in the retail chain – 45.1%, worth UAH 433.2 billion. Transfers from card to card in the first quarter of 2024 reached a third amount (32.9%). Payment for goods and services on the Internet – 14.6%.
During the reporting period, the average value of a transaction was:

in the retail chain – 327 UAH (in the first quarter of last year – 344 UAH),

from card to card transfer – 1,931 UAH (2,133 UAH),

for payment for goods and services on the Internet – 541 UAH (460 UAH).

Earlier it was reported that the National Bank is preparing a draft decision to limit card transfers and introduce the upper limit for transferring money from card to card between individuals.
The NBU assured that the regulator plans to limit the amount of transfers from one card to the amount of 100 thousand Hryvnia and the amount of 30 per month. But banks can increase this limit.
