The energy company said that some media outlets began to spread information about the alleged additional income that it will receive due to the increase in tariffs for the population, and certainly objected.
National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom announced an information campaign against it, which was launched in several media in connection with the increase in electricity charges.
“Information disseminated in the media about the acquisition of additional income by JSC NNEGC Energoatom due to increase in electricity charges, is not true. For the attention of all “experts” thinking about the topic of increasing government tariffs for the population “in favor of Energoatom“: Energoatom will not receive a penny from the tariff increase,” the energy company said in a statement posted on its website.
The company added that “Energoatom “As the largest and most reliable producer of electricity for our state, it will continue to cover the difference in the market and actual tariffs for the population at its own expense.”
“Before the fixed price increase for the population, the cost of PSO service (assigned special duties, – approx. edit.) for JSC NAEC Energoatom amounted to UAH 125.7 billion (excluding VAT), or 70.7% of the company’s net income. Considering the company’s minimal own costs for ensuring electricity production and minimal capital investment, including financing measures related to increasing nuclear safety and ensuring physical protection of nuclear power plants, the deficit of funds to be paid for PSO in 2024 is UAH 17.4 billion (excluding VAT) . At the new level of fixed price for the population, the PSO service cost forecast for JSC NAEC Energoatom in 2024 will reach UAH 108.3 billion (excluding VAT). This will allow JSC NAEC energy atom, in accordance with current market conditions, pay the cost of the PSO service in full by 2024. In fact, it will reach 60% of the company’s net income,” the statement said. Energoatom.
We remind you that from June 1, 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine increased the cost of electricity for the population from 2.64 UAH/kW to 4.32 UAH/kW. The new tariff is expected to be in effect until the end of April 2025, i.e. in less than a year.
Ukraine’s Energy Ministry said the decision to increase tariffs was “forced and necessary to ensure that the country will not be left without electricity supply in the face of Russian attacks on the energy system.”
