The National Bank strengthened the hryvnia exchange rate against the dollar and the euro for the third day in a row. This was confirmed by data on the regulator’s website on Wednesday, June 5.
Thus, the official dollar exchange rate for Thursday was set at UAH 40.1254 (-0.1684 UAH). In turn, the euro also fell in price – at the level of 43.6083 UAH (-0.1588 UAH).
On the interbank foreign exchange market, the American currency immediately fell by 18 kopecks – to 40.10-40.13 UAH/dollar (buying/selling) compared to the previous day’s close.
The website of the Ministry of Finance reported that currency sellers have become more active in the interbank market today.
“Many people need hryvnia to pay their current expenses in hryvnia for negotiations with personnel for the previous month and for negotiations with suppliers carried out in lots up to $1 million,” said of site specialists.
In exchange offices, the selling dollar exchange rate fell by another 15 kopecks and consolidated below the psychological level of 41 UAH – 40.80 UAH per dollar.
Earlier, the National Bank explained the reasons for the growth of the dollar in May. According to the regulator, demand for foreign currency jumped 41% last month.
At the same time, in the first week of June, the official exchange rate of the hryvnia began to rise noticeably.
