The hryvnia exchange rate continues to strengthen in the cash market. The dollar fell below 41 hryvnias, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing monitoring data on Wednesday, June 5.

On June 5, the average selling dollar exchange rate fell by 25 kopecks compared to the previous day – to UAH 40.81. In the purchase, the rate dropped even more – to 40.22 UAH.
The average selling euro exchange rate decreased by 20 kopecks – to 44.53 UAH. In the purchase, the average rate fell below 44 hryvnia and reached 43.86 UAH per euro.
In the interbank market, the American currency is at 40.14-40.18 UAH per dollar (purchase/sale). This is 13 kopecks below the closing level of the previous trade.
The day before, the National Bank strongly weakened the official exchange rate of the dollar against the Hryvnia – at the level of UAH 40.2938 (-0.1875 UAH). The official exchange rate of the euro today is 43.7671 UAH (-0.1268 UAH).
Let us remind you that in the past two weeks the dollar has risen in price more than the Hryvnia. And in May its rate increased by 2.1% (from 39.66 UAH/dollar on April 30). Since the beginning of the year, the dollar has increased by 6.6% (37.98 UAH/dollar as of December 31, 2023).
Financial market participants believe that the main reason for the devaluation of the Hryvnia is the political decision of the NBU, whose time has come.
