Metinvest has introduced new unique programs to adapt war veterans to civilian life. The director of Metinvest’s corporate communications department, Oleg Davydenko, spoke about this at the summit of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine, The Path of a Veteran from Military Service to Civil Life, the company’s press service reported.
According to him, in Metinvest the number of mobilized people has reached more than 9 thousand people, which is every sixth employee. 500 people have returned to businesses from the war.
“The returnees have to adapt to civilian life for themselves and their families. It’s a question of what services are around, what the employer should do for the employee. And here we took many lessons. -house,” said Davydenko.
He said that for the past year and a half, Metinvest has been working to create an ecosystem that allows veterans to comfortably return to work. It is based on four main principles:

Responsibility – managers at all levels are responsible for working with veterans.

Systematicity – not individual, but permanent projects of psychological support, additional medical examination, and veteran communities are implemented.

Priority – the company conducted a survey of veterans about what kind of help they needed.

“Perhaps this (justice – ed.) is the very first request from veterans – think of us as civilians, not as veterans. There is no need for special conditions Davydenko.
According to him, the company conducted training for managers on how to work with veterans and avoid team conflicts. And open lectures are arranged for teams on topics sensitive to veterans.
“A person with new knowledge, with military experience is what is needed in industrial enterprises, we have 4 thousand vacancies, and we are ready to take all people from the market who are ready to work,” emphasized by Oleg Davydenko.
He clarified that the company provides job opportunities in a wide range of engineering and technical specialties, and if necessary, you can undergo training, which, depending on the qualifications, can last 3-6 month or more.
In the past, Metinvest launched a psychological video course on interacting with veterans. It will be of interest not only to collectives who work with returning veterans, but also to anyone who wants to better understand the unique interactions with former military personnel.
