While inflation could close the year at 6.4%, according to Central Reserve Bank and that the rise in fertilizer prices affects these indicators, farmers Peruvians are still waiting for the arrival of urea to fertilize mass-produced crops such as potatoes and rice.
However, the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Land Reclamation is already considering another option to support farmers and this is the delivery of an organic bonus. As Luis Gomero Osorio told the management, in order to fulfill this proposal, they are contacting the manufacturers of this material.
shopping has already begun
The official explained that from June 16, contracts of this type will be purchased. “What is being assessed is a bonus with a minimum cost of S/800 so that a farmer with less than five hectares can access two tons of organic fertilizer, which will be the starting point for Peru can switch from using synthetic fertilizers to other natural fertilizers and reduce our dependence by up to 50%,” Gomero said.
cheaper organic fertilizer
Buying this type of fertilizer can be cheaper than urea, which sells for SGD 250 per bag, while sustainable fertilizer costs SGD 350 per ton. Only in the country there are 18 manufacturing companies.which could produce up to 60 thousand tons of enriched organic fertilizer within a month.
There are also three centers for the production of bio-fertilizers, the raw material for which is fish, on the north coast. These places are located close to northern beaches such as Juro, Organos and Karkin in Huacho.
Why are these cultures good?
Luis Gomero recognized that this type of fertilizer cannot replace urea in rice or yellow corn, but it can be used in white potatoes and other vegetables.
