The average selling rate of the dollar in Ukraine rose to 40.55 hryvnia, and the euro exchange rate reached 44.00 hryvnia.

The exchange rate of the hryvnia dropped significantly on the first day of the new week against the dollar and the euro at exchange offices. RBC-Ukraine reported this in connection with market monitoring data on Monday, May 27.

So, the average dollar selling rate in Ukraine immediately increased by 30 kopecks to UAH 40.55, the euro exchange rate increased by 25 kopecks to UAH 44.00.

Today, exchange offices buy a dollar for an average of 40.00 UAH, and a euro for 43.30 UAH.

In the interbank market, the American currency is at the level of 40.15-40.18 UAH/dollar (buying and selling) – unchanged compared to the previous day’s close.

Last Friday, the National Bank for the first time raised the official dollar exchange rate above 40 Hryvnia – to 40.1153 UAH per 1 dollar (+0.1948 UAH). The previous maximum was recorded on May 24 – 39.9205.

Today’s euro exchange rate is 43.491 UAH (+0.1773 UAH). This is also a new record. The previous maximum was set on May 24 – 43.3137 UAH.

It was also found that over the past week the NBU has increased sales of foreign currency in the interbank market by almost 40% – to $683.93 million. Overall, since the beginning of the year, the regulator sold $10.2 billion and bought just $105 million.

Earlier, the NBU explained the increase in the dollar exchange rate by restoring international aid to Ukraine. This influenced the increase in budget expenditures.

And the Verkhovna Rada believes that the decrease in the hryvnia corresponds to the planned indicators included in the state budget of Ukraine.
