Today in Ukraine a huge number of power units have been destroyed, which is why this year the situation is more critical than last year, the energy company emphasized.
In order to restore energy facilities destroyed by the Nazis, Ukrainian authorities and energy workers had to find unconventional solutions. In particular, today in Eastern Europe, power plants that no longer work are being dismantled for parts. DTEK Executive Director Dmitry Sakharuk announced this on May 20 on Channel 5.
“The technology there is almost identical and we are now working with the ministry to dismantle the equipment, although not new, but working, from the stations in Eastern Europe that remain,” he said.
Sakharuk emphasized that a huge number of power units were destroyed today in Ukraine, which is why this year the situation is more critical than last year.
“The equipment is very badly damaged, in some cases destroyed speaking of thermal development in general, it will take a lot of time to restore the damage,” he said.
Let’s recall that in early May, DTEK Energy General Director Ildar Saleev reported that since February 2022, DTEK Energy’s thermal power plants alone have been attacked almost 180 times. In mid-May, Dmitry Sakharuk reported that the Russians were repeatedly shelling energy infrastructure facilities. Due to the lack of electricity, emergency and planned blackouts are used in Ukraine.
