From the beginning of summer, from June 1, new maximum electricity prices for Ukrainian businesses will come into effect.
From June 1, the maximum electricity price for businesses will increase. The corresponding decision was made by the National Commission that carries out state regulation in the field of energy and utilities in a meeting on Monday, May 20.
A resolution was adopted to establish price limits in the futures market, the intraday market and the balancing market. The new prices will be effective from June 1.
The following upper price limits are set in advance in the daily market:
-
from 00:00 to 07:00 and from 11:00 to 17:00 – 5600 UAH/MWh (now 3000 UAH/MWh)
-
from 07:00 to 11:00 and from 23:00 to 24:00 – 6900 UAH/MWh. (today from 07:00 to 08:00 – 5600 UAH/MWh.)
-
from 17:00 to 23:00 – 9000 UAH/MWh (today – 7500 UAH/MWh)
The minimum price limit remains at 10 UAH/MWh.
In a balanced market:
-
from 00:00 to 07:00 – 6600 UAH/MWh (now 4000 UAH/MWh)
-
from 7:00 to 17:00 and from 23:00 to 24:00 – the price remains 8250 UAH/MWh.
-
from 17:00 to 23:00 – 10,000 UAH/MWh (currently 8250 UAH/MWh)
-
from 23:00 to 00:00 – 8250 UAH/MWh (currently 4000 UAH/MWh).
It was noted that the increase in border prices would help balance the electricity market.
It is expected that the decision of NEURC will allow the increase of imports to 1.7 GW not only at night, but also at night.
At night, a reduction in electricity imports is observed in Ukraine, because due to the current price restrictions, imports are unprofitable. Due to the lack of electricity, industrial and household consumers experienced blackouts at night.
We remind you that the cost of electricity for the population may increase to 5 UAH/kWh in order to attract funds for the construction of new generating capacities. Funds received from the tariff increase will be accumulated to restore capacity Ukrhydroenergo and for the construction of power units 3 and 4 of the Khmelnitsky NPP.
Energy Minister German Galushchenko called on Ukrainians to use electricity sparingly, as the country faces very difficult times ahead.
