The National Bank of Ukraine strengthened the hryvnia exchange rate against the dollar and the euro on the last working day of the week. This was confirmed by data on the regulator’s website on Friday, May 17.
The official dollar exchange rate for Monday is set at UAH 39.4272 (-0.0033 UAH). The dollar fell for the third day in a row. In just one week, the exchange rate dropped by 30 kopecks.
In turn, the official exchange rate of the euro fell today and will reach UAH 42.7549 (-0.0903 UAH).
In the interbank market, the price of the American currency increased by 13 kopecks – to 39.46-39.49 UAH/dollar (buying and selling) compared to the previous day’s close.
In the cash market, the dollar fell by 10 kopecks to UAH 43.90.
We remind you that since the beginning of 2024, the hryvnia exchange rate against the dollar has fallen by almost 6%. The Verkhovna Rada said that it corresponds to the planned indicators included in the state budget of Ukraine.
Earlier, the NBU explained the increase in the dollar exchange rate by the continuation of international aid to Ukraine. This influenced the increase in budget expenditures.
