In March, Russia delivered more than 165 thousand barrels of petroleum products to North Korea, the White House said.
Russia is secretly supplying oil to North Korea in quantities that violate UN Security Council restrictions. This is what White House national security spokesman John Kirby said, Reuters reports.
“At the same time, when Moscow vetoed the extension of the commission order (UN monitoring sanctions against the DPRK – ed.), Russia was delivering refined oil from the port of Vostochny to the DPRK,” he said.
According to Kirby, Russia delivered more than 165,000 barrels of petroleum products to North Korea in March.
“Russia has shipped petroleum products from the port of Vostochny to the DPRK pushing imports into the DPRK above the 500 barrels per year established by the UN Security Council,” a White House representative said.
Considering that the commercial ports of the Russian Federation and North Korea are located relatively close, Russia can continue these supplies “indefinitely,” the publication wrote.
Let’s remember that Russia’s revenues from oil and gas sales in April almost doubled year-on-year and will reach $14 billion due to price increases.
The main condition for meeting the price ceiling for Russian oil at $60 actually stopped applying more than a year after its introduction. Today almost all oil is transported by shadow fleet tankers, using Western insurance.
