Russian authorities have asked Kazakhstan for fuel supplies in case of shortages due to the Ukrainian attack.

The Russian authorities turned to the Kazakh authorities with a request to help in the event of a shortage and be ready to provide 100 thousand tons of fuel. This was reported by Reuters, citing industry sources.

One of the publication’s interlocutors said that a supply agreement had already been agreed. At the same time, Advisor to the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Shingis Ilyasov said that the Ministry of Energy has not received such a request from its Russian counterpart.

Sources of the publication note that Russia has asked Kazakhstan to create an emergency reserve of fuel in the amount of 100 thousand tons, which is ready for delivery to the Russian Federation in the event of a shortage in the country due to the ongoing attacks of drones in oil refineries.

At the same time, Belarus has agreed to supply fuel to Russia as aid.

According to Reuters, by the end of March, drone attacks had knocked out about 14% of Russia’s primary oil refining capacity. Until now, the Russian Federation has stated that the situation in the domestic fuel market is stable and reserves are relatively large.

Russia has imposed a ban on fuel exports for six months from March 1 to avoid severe fuel shortages.

Kazakhstan, the world’s largest landlocked country, has also limited fuel exports until the end of the year, except for humanitarian purposes.

We remind you that since the beginning of the year, 13 Russian refineries have been attacked. The drone strikes led to the biggest weekly increase in oil prices of the year.

The United States called on Ukraine to stop attacks on Russian energy infrastructure, as drone attacks on refineries could lead to an increase in world oil prices.
