“The first stage was introduced, it really works. Businesses in our region and neighboring regions provide special potatoes of varieties that are acceptable for the production of chips,” he said.
It is known that the plant should produce 260 tons of finished products per day. But Leshchenko found it difficult to clarify when the business will reach its design capacity, as difficulties have arisen in the supply of technological equipment.
“It’s all imported and subject to sanctions restrictions,” the minister explained.
PepsiCo began the construction of this plant in the fall of 2020. Initially, it was planned to launch the first stages of the project in 2021, but the deadlines were moved. Previously, investments in this project were estimated at more than 12 billion rubles.
Let’s recall that in September 2023, NAPC added PepsiCo to the list of war sponsors. The company continues to operate in the Russian Federation, paying significant taxes to its budget, thereby supporting the economy of the aggressor country.
It is known that PepsiCo has 19 factories in Russia, the company employs about 20 thousand employees and 40 thousand agricultural workers. Based on net income, it is the fourth largest beverage and food company in Russia.
