The state budget of Ukraine received $118 million on a non-refundable basis from the Japanese government. The Ministry of Finance announced this on Monday, April 1, 2024.
It is indicated that these funds were provided within the framework of World Bank projects Strengthening health care and life support systems (HEAL Ukraine) and Home repair to restore people’s rights and opportunities (I WISH).
“The funds raised under the HEAL and HOPE projects will help the government provide adequate assistance to its citizens, in particular, expand the range of medical services and access to them, as well as ensure that overcome the consequences caused by Russia’s armed aggression, and restore Ukraine’s housing infrastructure,” the statement said. .
The grant funding obtained from the Japanese government consists of:

$70 million within the framework of the World Bank HEAL Ukraine project is aimed at supporting the state budget, as payment of expenses incurred under the medical guarantee program;

$48.2 million as part of the World Bank project Home repair to restore people’s rights and opportunities (I WISH). Funds under the project are used to reimburse the state budget expenses used for compensation payments to homeowners for repairs in apartment buildings and private buildings that require minor and medium-sized repairs.
We remind you that on March 29, Ukraine received $1.5 billion from the World Bank. The financing consists of a Japanese government guarantee of $984 million and a UK guarantee of $516 million.
