The company’s largest thermal power plant suffered major damage throughout the Russian invasion.
As a result of the latest attack on Ukraine’s energy system, the Russian aggressors destroyed two-thirds of the power units in DTEK’s thermal power plants, which the company had planned for 2023. DTEK Executive Director said this Dmitry Sakharuk on Thursday, March 28.
“The worst case scenario is that two-thirds of the restored blocks we repaired last winter were destroyed. We restored 10 blocks and two-thirds were destroyed. If it used to be about damage talk, now we are talking about the word destruction,” he said during the event “NV Dialogues about the future. The European path of Ukraine.”
Sakharuk added that the company’s largest thermal power plant suffered significant damage throughout the massive raid.
“Unlike last winter, the accuracy of the missiles is amazing. The take-off run is one meter. If earlier it was 100 meters, 200, 300, now it only comes every meter and, unfortunately, the consequences are enormous,” he explained.
The executive director of DTEK emphasized that as a result of the attack, the most important equipment, which was produced for many years, was damaged. In total, the company lost about 1 GW of capacity.
We remind you that on March 22, the Russians carried out the largest attack on the energy sector of Ukraine. After that, energy holding company DTEK announced the loss of almost half of its capacity.
