The South Korean Samsung Pay program will suspend operations in Russia on April 3 this year. This was reported on Samsung’s website.
From this date, adding and using Mir cards in the Samsung Pay program will no longer be available.
At the same time, the functionality of adding and using club cards/loyalty cards in the Samsung Pay application will work without changes.
As reported, previously added Mir cards will be removed from the program, while club cards will remain and are still available.
Changes apply only to Russia and World maps. Samsung Pay will continue to work in Belarus without changes, allowing you to add and use Visa and Mastercard cards from partner banks.
Last year, the South Korean company banned the Samsung Pay service in Russia for its new smartphones. With the release of the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5, contactless payments no longer work for Russians.
At the same time, Android smartphone users can use contactless payments with Mir cards thanks to SberPay, MirPay and SBPay.
We remind you that the Contact payment system has stopped working in Russia after the license of its operator, QIWI Bank, was revoked. It was used to transfer funds abroad and was especially popular among Russian emigrants.
