American New York tops the list of the world’s largest financial centers for the seventh year.
New York once again took first place in the list of the world’s largest financial centers. This is stated in the analysis of the financial consulting company Z/Yen Group, which calculates the Global Financial Centers Index (GFCI).
New York has been leading since the fall of 2018. Compared to the previous version of the ranking, published in September 2023, New York’s score increased to 764 from 763, and second place London’s score increased to 747 from 744 .
Singapore still rounds out the top three with 742 points, Hong Kong is in fourth place, and San Francisco is in fifth place.
Shanghai climbed to sixth place, Geneva to seventh, while Los Angeles dropped two positions to eighth place. Chicago remained in ninth place, Seoul moved up to tenth, displacing Washington.
The World Financial Centers Index was first published in 2007 and is updated every six months (the current edition is the 35th). The rating was compiled based on a survey of nearly 8.5 thousand respondents.
Let’s remember that last year, for the first time in history, London lost its sole leadership as the main financial center of the world.
