Ukraine is trying to help overcome hunger in Gaza, Malawi, Democratic Republic of Congo and other countries.
Ukraine, together with the UN World Food Program, is developing new routes for the humanitarian program Grain from Ukraine. President Vladimir Zelensky stated this while addressing the participants of the third Summit for Democracy, Ukrinform reports.
According to him, thanks to the program, tens of thousands of tons of grain and wheat have been delivered to Yemen, Somalia, Nigeria, Sudan, and Ethiopia.
“Today we are cooperating with the UN World Food Program on new routes for the Grain program from Ukraine to help overcome hunger in Gaza, Malawi, the Democratic Republic of Congo and other countries,” Zelensky said, citing that in a few days a new shipment will arrive in Sudan from Ukraine.
We remind you that the Ukrainian humanitarian initiative Grain in Ukraine was launched in 2022, it provides necessary food products to countries in Africa, Asia and the Middle East, whose populations are facing hunger and potential famine.
In cooperation with the UN World Food Programme, more than 30 countries and international organizations have joined Ukraine in implementing this initiative, and by the end of 2023, more than 170 thousand tons of grain have been delivered to countries with the most difficult food situations, including Ethiopia. , Somalia, Kenya and Yemen.
