This money will support the renewal, reconstruction and modernization of Ukraine, said Josep Borrell.
The European Commission has transferred the first tranche of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine under the Ukraine Facility program. The EU’s High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, said this on Wednesday, March 20.
“Today we made the first payment of 4.5 billion euros from the 50 billion euros of the Ukraine Relief Fund to support the recovery, reconstruction and modernization of Ukraine. Tomorrow the European Council will discuss how to further accelerate Ukraine’s accession (to the EU),” Borrell said at a press conference in Brussels after the end of the Ukraine-EU Association Council.
Let’s recall that on February 1, EU leaders at a summit in Brussels agreed on a €50 billion support program for Ukraine called the Ukraine Facility. It is designed for the period of 2024 – 2027.
It is assumed that the receipt of funds for the Ukraine Facility depends on the implementation of 100 quarterly indicators by Kiev.
