High water in the rivers and sunny weather contribute to the active operation of hydroelectric power plants and power plants using renewable energy sources, Ukrenergo said.
Ukraine updated its record for electricity exports for the second day. Ukrenergo reported this on Tuesday, March 5.
“Today, the planned volume of electricity exports has once again reached a record high. In total, 13,393 MWh is planned to be supplied to five countries (Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Moldova) within 24 hours, with a maximum capacity of up to 726 MW at individual times,” – said the message.
The company noted that the export of electricity from Ukraine to other countries is carried out only if there is no shortage in the energy system.
“The high water in the rivers and sunny weather contribute to the active operation of hydroelectric power plants and power plants using renewable energy sources. Because of this, electricity producers have the opportunity not only to fully meet the needs of Ukrainian consumers, but also to increase the volume of production and sales, receiving funds for the subsequent restoration after the armed attacks of the Russians,” – emphasized in Ukrenergo.
At the same time, today a minor electricity import is planned in the evening hours from Slovakia and Romania with a total volume of 76 MWh.
It was also reported that despite the record volume of electricity exports to neighboring countries, there was a surplus of electricity in the Ukrainian energy system. In order to maintain the balance between production and consumption and operational security, in response to a request from Ukrenergo, the Polish energy system operator PSE provided emergency assistance from 13:00 to 16:00, which urgently bought surplus Ukrainian electricity with a total volume of 246 MWh.
As of this morning, 387 settlements remained without power in Ukraine due to fighting and other reasons. There were new damages to oblenergos networks in Dnepropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kharkov, and Kherson regions. In the Donetsk region, due to damage to a 110 kV overhead line, a coal mining enterprise was de-energized, and miners were brought to the surface. Fighting continues in the area.
We remind you that since February 14, electricity exports from Ukraine have exceeded imports. And on February 23, Ukraine began selling electricity to Hungary.
The previous day, Ukraine set a record for electricity exports to European countries.
