The company is not yet thinking about underground production. This is possible, but currently technically difficult.
Private company Ukrainian armored vehicle, known for its Varta and Novator armored vehicles, increased production tenfold within two years of a full-scale war with the Russian Federation. For safety, he spread production across dozens of sites across the country. The general director of the company, Vladislav Belbas, spoke about this in an interview with Deutsche Welle.
According to him, all products go to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, because while the war is going on, exports from Ukraine are suspended. The company has dozens of sites across the country. Dispersion of production is one of the keys to survival.
Belbas said information about government defense suppliers is currently publicly available. Russia can check the location of any business, production sites, etc.
The company is not yet thinking about underground production. It can be done, but it is technically difficult. In addition, the company produces artillery and mortar shells; such products are dangerous to produce underground.
“The problem with making explosives underground is that in case of an emergency, all employees will die from the pressure drop. That means it is very difficult to implement underground,” said the general director of Ukrainian Armored Vehicles.
Ukrainian arms manufacturers say Russia considers them a priority target because it considers them a serious threat. Therefore, small and secret enterprises in different regions of the country under the protection of air defense are until now the only way for the Ukrainian military-industrial complex to create its own weapons.
We remind you that the volume of production of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex in 2023 will triple compared to 2022. In 2024, a further sixfold increase is expected.
On February 26, the Defense Procurement Agency of the Ministry of Defense concluded the first direct contract with a Swedish manufacturer.
