The implementation of the resolution will help attract foreign investment in the construction of new green capacities even in war conditions.
The Cabinet of Ministers supported the resolution introducing guarantees of the source of electricity produced from renewable energy sources (RES). The press service of the Ministry of Energy reported this on Tuesday, February 27.
The adopted initiative meets the goals of the Energy Strategy, which involves a significant increase in electricity production from renewable energy sources.
Now consumers of electricity will be able to confirm its origin from renewable energy sources and its environmental value (the amount of CO2 emissions avoided). It will allow industrial enterprises to prove that their goods are made from clean energy and will increase the competitiveness of Ukrainian goods on the EU market.
The resolution provides for the approval of the procedure for the issuance, circulation and redemption of guarantees of the source of electricity produced from renewable energy sources. The document also approved the method for determining the environmental value of this electricity.
A register of guarantees of origin will be created, managed by the National Commission for Energy Market and Utilities Services (NCRECU).
Guarantees will be generated electronically in MWh according to the amount of electricity supplied from renewable energy sources provided by the commercial accounting administrator.
Guarantees of origin for the supplied “green” electricity by state-supported renewable energy producers (in the form of a “feed-in” tariff or future auctions) belong to the business of owned by the state as a guaranteed buyer.
Remind us that the European Commission highly values the development of green energy in Ukraine.
As reported, at the height of the war, DTEK built the Tiligul wind power plant in the Nikolaev region, 100 km from the combat zone.
