The director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau noted that the relevant authorities are committed to uncovering top corruption.
Ukraine’s anti-corruption authorities have a high performance in the fight against top corruption and a record economic impact of UAH 4.7 billion. This is what the director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU), Semyon Krivonos, said at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday, February 21.
“In 2023, the chairman of the Supreme Court and a judge of the Court of Appeal were exposed in vain, 11 people’s deputies and three deputy ministers were brought to criminal responsibility,” the official said.
He added that the anti-corruption authorities last year focused on uncovering criminal organizations involving high-ranking officials and corruption at the highest levels, as well as investigating crimes in the areas of reconstruction and defense.
“21 people from high officials, 39 heads of state enterprises, 16 judges were convicted… These numbers are higher than the indicators of previous years. And this indicates being effectiveness and accuracy of our priorities,” said Krivonos.
The official noted that “the impact on the economy reached a record 3 billion UAH.”
“In general, for 2023 – UAH 4.7 billion, which is one and a half times more than in 2022,” the NABU director summarized.
It was previously reported that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine is investigating more than 60 cases of abuse in the defense sector.
It should be noted that NABU confirmed the existence of a corruption scheme in the Ministry of Defense, which allows for significant price increases for certain categories of products.
