Negotiations begin this week in the context of the third review of the extended financing program supported by the IMF.
IMF representatives arrived in Ukraine and will hold negotiations with government officials and other partners in Kyiv. Ukrinform reported this on Monday, February 12.
“The IMF team, led by Uma Ramakrishnan, Deputy Director of the IMF’s European Department, begins meetings today in Kyiv with representatives of the Ukrainian authorities and other partners,” said IMF Resident Representative Vahram Stepanyan in a statement.
According to him, the discussions will focus on the goals of the economic policy of the Ukrainian authorities and the challenges facing the state economy.
The IMF team will take part on February 13 in the inaugural meeting of the steering committee of the Capacity Development Fund of Ukraine, which is managed by the IMF. At this meeting of representatives of Ukrainian authorities, development partners and IMF specialists, priorities for strengthening Ukraine’s capabilities and the Fund’s support for this important work will be discussed.
“Following these meetings, on February 17, the IMF mission led by Gavin Gray will begin discussions with representatives of the Ukrainian authorities in Warsaw in the context of the third review of the extended financing program supported by the IMF ,” the statement said.
We remind you that on December 14, 2023, Ukraine received $900 million from the IMF. This is the third tranche under the ongoing Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program.
As you know, in November, the IMF doubled the GDP forecast for Ukraine – to 4.5% by the end of 2023. At the same time, in October, the fund predicted the growth of this indicator at the level of 2%, and the statements on the level of fund management sounded even from 1%.
