Imported fuel will allow thermal generation and the Ukrainian energy system to more reliably cope with winter and electricity consumption peaks, especially during the cold season, the company said.
From September last year to the present, DTEK Energy has imported 226 thousand tons of thermal coal from Poland. The company’s press service reported this on Wednesday, January 31.
The report says that “almost two-thirds of the total amount of imported fuel contracted for the heating season has been imported, which has recently increased to 357 thousand tons.” According to the terms of the contract, deliveries will last until the end of March – almost until the end of the heating season.
“Additional volumes of fuel allow thermal generation and the Ukrainian energy system to more reliably cope with winter and electricity consumption peaks, especially during cold weather,” the statement said.
According to Ildar Saleev, General Director of DTEK Energy, the company is now “continually restoring damaged equipment, conducting a planned repair campaign at thermal power plants, and mining its own coal so that thermal generation can be given an adequate amount of resources.”
It was previously reported that by the end of 2023, DTEK Energy has spent about 11 billion hryvnias on a repair campaign at thermal power plants and coal production in mines.
