Nissan X-Trail is Nissan’s flagship crossover in Ukraine. And the new X-Trail finally lives up to that title.
It is big with a length of 4680 mm, height of 1725 mm, width of 1840 mm (excluding mirrors) and a wheelbase of 2705 mm, it can offer a 5 or 7-seater interior.
It is modern because it has many interesting and necessary things: from a head-up display to a smart all-round viewing system and adaptive lighting and advanced security systems.
It is innovative, even very innovative, because it is equipped with a relatively rare engine that can change the compression ratio, and, in the end, may not even have a mechanical connection to the wheels! Thanks to this, such a Nissan X-Trail can also be considered an electric car that does not require an external network.

To be honest, this is also the reason why we decided to take the new Nissan X-Trail for a long test, to understand in detail all its nuances – from technical features to the cost of maintenance and features of winter operation. We will study all this later, but for now we will share our first impressions and analyze the offer, that is, the price list.
If you try to express the impression of the design of the new Nissan X-Trail in two words, then these words will be power and reliability. You start to trust a car that looks like this, you want to rely on it. We are also very happy to see that in the new X-Trail the manufacturer has not abandoned the long-standing idea of double headlights, which users of the previous generation Nissan Juke have enjoyed for many years. Of course, the new X-Trail offers a new interpretation of this design concept. But, based on the experience of the aforementioned Juke, we can confidently say: this method looks modern for a long time, it is not in danger of premature aging. Which, by the way, cannot be said about the design of the front optics of some Korean automakers.
What surprised us the most about the interior of our Nissan X-Trail was… no, not even the dashboard or the central display, although the first was made in digital format, and the second had ultra-modern content . And the size of both is impressive: 12.3 inches diagonally! But not.
For the first few minutes, we couldn’t take our eyes off the interior decoration. To be honest, we don’t remember if this X-Trail’s predecessor offered such a beautiful color, but the light brown color interior (code C) with elements of very high quality genuine leather is matches the orange metal body with the black roof so just take a look and enjoy. But this color combination is not available for all Nissan X-Trail: in the price list we see a mark “for e-Power versions.” Therefore, first of all, you need to know what versions and configurations exist.
The first two positions out of five on the price list belong to the mild hybrid MHEV. It has a 1.5 liter petrol engine with a power of 163 hp. is directly involved in the rotation of the wheels and, accordingly, has a partner in the form of an Xtronic continuously variable transmission. By the way, a very good pair: a powerful but economical VC-T engine with a variable compression ratio (from 8:1 to 14:1) and a variator that provides continuous torque delivery.

This is the lightest Nissan X-Trail, weighing 1589-1669 kg. This crossover will offer the highest ground clearance in the line – 210 mm, but only front-wheel drive. The trunk is also the largest: 585 liters in the 5-seater version and 485 in the 7-seater version. That’s right, thanks to the availability of the latter, the new Nissan X-Trail can be a great choice even for a large family! A 5-seat crossover is already offered in the initial Visia configuration for 1,146,300 UAH, and a 7-seater is offered in the next Acenta for 1,280,260 UAH. But we advise those looking to buy a Nissan X-Trail for themselves and their family to consider the Acenta first. Even the Visia will now have Full LED headlights, 18-inch wheels, air conditioning and a cool package of security systems.
Because climate control is more convenient than air conditioning, and the presence of I-key keyless entry system, rear view camera, heated front seats and steering wheel significantly increase operating comfort.
The package of safety systems should be especially noticeable, because the Nissan X-Trail compares favorably with many competitors precisely because it does not harm the safety of its passengers. Because of the starting equipment there is something offered only by someone in the middle configuration or even above! The list of safety systems is truly impressive, from TPMS Tire Pressure Monitoring, LDW and BSW Blind Spot Monitoring to P-FEB Intelligent Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, FCW Forward Collision Alert and CTA Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
And any Nissan X-Trail can recognize driver fatigue and read road signs. Want smart cruise control with a speed limiter? Yes, all X-Trails have this, as well as light sensors, rain sensors and rear parking sensors. The front ones appear in the Acenta package with a rear view camera, and in the next N-Connecta (from 1,355,120 UAH) a smart all-round viewing system with the MOD moving object recognition system is added.

The N-Connecta package also adds something interesting to the interior, namely the ambient illumination of the center console and a second row of seats with a sliding function (standard on the 7-seat version). And above all, there will now be a bright digital instrument panel with a diagonal of 12.3 inches and a central display of the same size instead of the 8-inch installed in the two previous trim levels.
And on the N-Connecta you can install the Premium Bose package for an additional fee of 27,190 UAH, which contains a Bose premium audio system along with 10 speakers, a Bose Acoustimass Bass Box and a digital amplifier. The Premium Bose package can also be obtained for free if you buy an X-Trail equipped with Tekna (from 1,524,540 UAH) or Tekna+ (from 1,637,420 UAH). They are similar in many ways, but there are also differences, which we will examine a little later, when we talk in detail about our Nissan X-Trail, which we took for a long test in the maximum configuration of Tekna +.
Now we just need to add some more important numbers. Even the Nissan X-Trail MHEV has excellent dynamics – 9.6 s to 100 km/h and fuel consumption of only 7.1-7.6 liters in the combined cycle. If you choose this impressive crossover in the e-Power version, without the traditional Xtronic CVT for Nissan or any conventional transmission, you will get power from 204 hp. up to 213 hp And with the last – also an advanced all-wheel drive system e-4orce! It will not only give you safety and confidence on any journey, but will also provide a combination of bright dynamics of 7-7.2 seconds to a hundred (depending on the number of seats) and fair efficiency: consumption is from 6.7 up to 5.8 l / 100 km in a mixed cycle.
