Vince McMahon “voluntarily left” the CEO and president of WWE during a board investigation into alleged misconduct with a former female employee. The company said on Friday.
Stephanie McMahon, Vince’s daughter, will assume the position of CEO and interim president.
Vince McMahon will continue to work on WWE creative content throughout the investigation. “He is committed to working on the current audit,” the company said in a statement.
John Laurinatis, WWE Head of Talent Relations, is also under investigation.
WWE’s board of directors received anonymous letters from a woman claiming she was a friend of an employee, the WSJ reported. He said McMahon took the woman as a maid and doubled her salary when they started having sex. The author of the email also accused 76-year-old McMahon of giving the employee laurenite as a toy. “
