Representatives of Polish carriers agreed to give the new government of Donald Tusk a chance to work.
Polish carriers, who have been blocking Ukrainian border checkpoints since November, reached an agreement with the government on “some demands” and will suspend their protest. This is what Tomasz Borkowski from the Committee for the Protection of Carriers and Transport Employers said, Reuters reported on Tuesday, January 16.
It is alleged that the protest will be suspended on Wednesday from 13:00 Kyiv time.
“This is not the end, but the protest will be suspended… We have agreed on some conditions, we will give the government time to work, because it is a new government,” said Borkowski.
In turn, the Polish Ministry of Infrastructure organized a press conference on Tuesday at 13:00 Kyiv time, where an agreement with the carriers should be signed.
As is known, Polish farmers had earlier decided to suspend their protest at the border crossing with Ukraine in Medika after the government agreed to their demands earlier this month. But the carriers continued to block three other checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Polish border. Therefore, two to three thousand trucks are lined up.
Earlier on Tuesday it became known that the Romanian government and local farmers reached an agreement, as a result of which two checkpoints on the Ukrainian border are expected to be unblocked.
