The National Bank lowered the official dollar exchange rate on Monday by almost 16 kopecks, and the euro by 35 kopecks.
The National Bank of Ukraine reduced the dollar exchange rate for the third day in a row. The American currency fell to its lowest level since the end of December last year. This was confirmed by data on the regulator’s website on Friday, January 12.
So, the official exchange rate for Monday is set at 37.8386 UAH per 1 dollar (-0.1596 UAH). The euro exchange rate fell further and was 41.3879 hryvnia per 1 euro (-0.3531 UAH).
In the interbank market, the American currency exchange rate decreased by 10 kopecks – to 37.84-38.89 UAH/dollar (buying and selling).
In the cash market, the dollar fell by 15 kopecks to 38.95 UAH/dollar.
Earlier, the National Bank explained the record demand for foreign currency. At the same time, the regulator claims that the situation remains under control thanks to a sufficient number of interventions.
Meanwhile, in December, Ukrainians bought a record amount of money in 11 years.
