The National Bank of Ukraine set the official exchange rate for January 3 at 38.0839 hryvnia per dollar.
On Tuesday, January 2, the National Bank of Ukraine again increased the dollar exchange rate following trading in the interbank market. The dollar rose in price to a new historic high, according to data on the regulator’s website.
The official exchange rate for January 3, 2024 is set at the following level: 38.0839 UAH per 1 dollar (+0.0695 UAH). The euro exchange rate will be 41.7209 UAH per 1 euro (-0.2850 UAH).

We remind you that on December 29, the NBU for the first time raised the dollar exchange rate above 38 hryvnia.
Earlier, the National Bank explained that the weakening of the Hryvnia in December was due to an increase in demand for the currency. But the exchange rate of the Hryvnia should change in both directions, and the regulator smooths out these changes, said the Deputy Head of the NBU Sergei Nikolaychuk.
As is known, the National Bank announced the transition to a regime of managed flexibility of the hryvnia exchange rate from October 3, 2023, abandoning the fixed hryvnia exchange rate in effect since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Under this regime, the official rate will be determined in the interbank market, and will not be set prescriptively by the National Bank.
