The hryvnia exchange rate continues to rapidly decline in the cash market at the beginning of the new year. RBC-Ukraine reported this in connection with market monitoring data on Monday, January 1.

So, the average selling rate of dollars in exchange offices increased by 45 kopecks, up to 39.50 Hryvnia, the exchange rate of the euro increased even more – by 60 kopecks, up to 43.50 Hryvnia.
Today, exchange offices buy a dollar for an average of 38.80 UAH, and a euro for 42.50 UAH.
In the interbank market, the American currency was at the level of 38.15-38.18 (buying and selling) – an increase of 14 kopecks compared to the previous day’s close.
Let us remind you that on December 29, the NBU for the first time raised the dollar exchange rate above 38 hryvnia – this is a new historical maximum.
Earlier, the National Bank explained that the weakening of the Hryvnia in December was due to an increase in demand for the currency. But the exchange rate of the Hryvnia should change in both directions, and the regulator smooths out these changes, said the Deputy Head of the NBU Sergei Nikolaychuk.
