The official hryvnia exchange rate in Ukraine for the first time in history crossed the level of 38 hryvnia per 1 dollar.
The National Bank of Ukraine on Friday, December 29, again raised the dollar exchange rate. Foreign currencies rose to a new historic high. This is confirmed by data on the regulator’s website.
The official exchange rate for January 1, 2024 is set at 38.002 UAH per dollar, which is 0.0196 UAH more than the day before. The rate established on the last working day of the outgoing year will be valid from January 1 to January 5, 2024.
The value of the euro in Ukraine will decrease to 41.996 hryvnia (-0.2119 UAH), which is below the historical maximum. However, the rate is determined by the quotes of the euro/dollar pair in the international market and does not depend on the NBU.

We remind you that on December 28, the National Bank weakened the official hryvnia exchange rate by 0.96%, or 36 kopecks, to 37.98 hryvnia per dollar.
Earlier, the National Bank explained that the weakening of the Hryvnia in December was due to an increase in demand for foreign currency. The exchange rate of the hryvnia should change in both directions, the National Bank smooths out these changes, said the deputy head of the NBU, Sergei Nikolaychuk.
