In Ukraine, the indexation of pensions planned from March 1 may be canceled if Western financial aid is delayed.
In the absence of international assistance, the indexation of pensions in 2024 may not take place. Minister of Social Policy Oksana Zholnovich said this during the telethon.
“I want to assure all pensioners who receive an old-age pension, because most of the pension income and profits shared by the Pension Fund are our internal revenues, which are provided by our payers in Ukraine, especially by our military. Because they all pay Unified Social Security, then our pension fund is firmly supported by Ukrainian funds,” he said.

According to the minister, in this regard there should be no problems with the payment of pensions.
“It may not be possible, if there are really risks such as a lack of international financial aid, to talk about indexation, but the basic pension will be paid, and we will find funds for it from internal sources of Ukrainian,” assured Zholnovych.
The head of the Ministry of Social Policy added that all increases and indexing are included in the budget, and he hopes that the resources for this will be found.
“I think we will be able to cope with these challenges. I do not want to scare pensioners prematurely with the fact that they will not receive their pensions in accordance with the law and the increase in the inflation rate that is foreseen. For now, we are ready to do these,” she said Zholnovich.
As for social payments, in particular, assistance to low-income people, IDPs and other categories, then, according to him, these costs are financed by international partners.
The Ministry of Social Policy has agreed with the World Bank on aid worth about $2 billion, and these funds will cover the main social costs in the first months of 2024.
Earlier it was reported that in 2024 in Ukraine it is planned to reduce pensions for officials who receive “astronomical amounts”.
