The most expensive cup of coffee costs in Odessa region – 36 Hryvnia, the lowest in Khmelnitsky region – 21 Hryvnia.
On average in Ukraine, a cup of espresso costs 30 Hryvnia. In 2017, a serving of espresso can be bought for 15 hryvnias. It was announced on December 27 a platform for working with open data. Opendatabotcited research from Poster POS’s Espresso Index.
The Espresso Index is an economic indicator used to measure the cost of a standard shot of espresso in different cities around the world. It helps estimate how much the prices for the same goods and services vary across countries, reflecting purchasing power and the rate of inflation.
“The Espresso Index in Ukraine has doubled in recent years: from 15 Hryvnia in 2017 to 30 Hryvnia by the end of 2023. It is noteworthy that during the full-scale invasion there was a sharp jump in price. Thus, the average cost of espresso in the country increased from 20 hryvnia to only 28 hryvnia in 2022,” said experts.
The most expensive cup of coffee is in Odessa region – 36 Hryvnia, Donetsk region – 35 Hryvnia and Kharkov region – 32 Hryvnia. At the same time, the lowest price for a classic coffee drink in Ukraine is in Khmelnytskyi region – 21 hryvnia, Sumy region – 23 hryvnia, in Zhytomyr and Vinnytsia regions – 24 hryvnia each, respectively.
The cost of espresso, as the main component of every coffee drink, directly affects the price of any drink in a cafe.
Let’s remember that earlier the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, Daniil Getmantsev, said that the fake coffee market in Ukraine reached 30%; fake brands of the instant coffee world are sold in bulk.
